Victoria County Master Gardener Association
hosted the Grand Opening of the Victoria Educational Gardens (VEG) Expansion Areas on Sunday, June 10, 2007 at 2:00 p.m.

Victoria Educational Gardens, 333 Bachelor Drive. VEG is by the old Aviation Control Tower at Victoria Regional Airport Drive out Hwy 59N, turn left on Big Bend Drive. Turn left on Waco Circle. You will dead-end into VEG.

July 17-18, 2007 - Rainwater Harvesting - Granbury, TX

Rainwater LogoHood County Extension is offering a Master Gardener Rainwater Specialist Training in Hood County on July 17 and 18, 2007. The training will take place at the Texas Forest Service Building, Texas Forest Service, 450 Howard Clemmons Drive. Granbury, Texas. This hands-on training will include the installation of a collection system and drip irrigation at an Extension/Master Gardener demonstration site. Every trainee will make a rain barrel to take home for themselves or to use as a demonstration. Each trainee will receive a shirt, power point and other materials to help them install a rainwater harvesting system demonstration in their counties and teach others about rainwater harvesting.

Master Gardener Specialist – Entomology Training
Aug 27-31, 2007 Entomology - Dallas, TX

June Bug photoWill include experts speaking on insect identification, insect diversity, insect pest management, pesticide safety, insects in the garden and landscape, digital photography for insect identification, biting and stinging insects, collecting methods and shipping techniques. Participants have the option of making or improving their own collection during the course. ***For any person who has previously completed the course but would like to observe the class this year, there will be a $15 fee per day to cover costs of meals, snacks and drinks. Brandy displayed her dedication and commitment by completing her hours in record time. She jumped right in and worked on the Demonstration Garden project and the Community Education Series. The Lake Granbury Master Gardeners are proud to have her on our team.

Sept 13-14, 2007- Rainwater Harvesting - Conroe, TX

Rainwater LogoHosted by Tom Leroy, CEA, Montgomery County. Montgomery County Extension is offering a Master Gardener Rainwater Specialist Training in Conroe, Texas on September 13-14, 2007. This hands-on training will include the tours of the rainwater harvesting systems at an Extension/Master Gardener demonstration site and construction of a concrete bird bath. Every trainee will make a rain barrel to take home for themselves or to use as a demonstration. Each trainee will receive a shirt, power point and other materials to help them install a rainwater harvesting system demonstration in their counties and teach others about rainwater harvesting. A copy of the tentative schedule is attached with the registration form with some information on hotels and sights to see.

Nov. 2-3, 2007 Montgomery County Extension Center Conroe, TX

Plant Propagation program is designed to train and certify Master Gardeners to become part of a state corps of Plant Propagation experts and educators. To become a certified Master Gardener Specialist - Plant Propagation, Master Gardeners are required to attend the Master Gardener Specialist - Plant Propagation training to fulfill training requirements and subsequently meet service requirements
