The real dirt - A Gardening Handbook for Parker County
Parker County Master Gardeners
The book consisting of three major sections. EarthKind™ Horticulture provides basic information on how to prepare and maintain your landscape. Plant Descriptions consists of 14 chapters. Each chapter is devoted to a specific plant type. Details of 375 plants are provided to assist you in selecting the right plant for your landscape. In addition, this section provides chapters on fruit and nut trees, turf grass, and wildflowers. Special Gardens includes chapters on container gardening, vegetable gardens, and butterfly and hummingbird gardens. Following these three sections, the book contains a glossary of terms used in the book as well as an appendix providing a monthly checklist of activities. An index at the end allows plants to be quickly found.
THE PHOTO CD The CD contains over 1,000 photos of the plants described in the real dirt. Virtually all of these photographs were taken in Parker County by members of the Parker

Lake Granbury Master Gardeners
In addition to specific information on more than 175 plants, the book also has sections on salt tolerant and deer resistant plants, oak wilt disease, firewise landscaping and watering. Included are a vegetable growing chart, a climate map, a gardening calendar and a gardening glossary
The book with CD is available for a donation of $20 to Lake Granbury Master Gardeners. All profits will benefit Master Gardener educational and horticultural efforts. The plant books may be picked up weekdays, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Texas Cooperative Extension office, Hood County, 200 N. Gordon St., Room 22, Granbury, TX. Master Gardener Patches
The patches are the standard Texas MG (new wording) logo and about 2 - 2 1/2". Have around 400 in stock and are selling them individually for $3 and this includes postage and state tax. Larger quantities to MG groups are cost, around $1.40, plus shipping. This leaves the group to deal with the state tax.
