Jan 15-16 The 46th Annual Blackland Income Growth Conference - Waco, TX
The 46th Annual Blackland Income Growth Conference will be held in Waco on January 15th and 16th. This years Horticulture Sessions will feature Dr. Dotty Woodson, Extension Program Specialist. Dr. Woodson will speak on Vegetable Gardening 101 and Water Conservation – How to Lower Your Water Bill with Drip Irrigation. The sessions begin at 9:00 A.M on January 15th and conclude by noon. Lunch is included with your registration fee of $15.00. Gene Stallings will be this year’s luncheon speaker. Gene Stallings coached football as a head coach at Texas A&M, the NFL St. Louis /Phoenix Cardinals and the University of Alabama. One of his Alabama teams went undefeated and captured a NCAA National Championship. Mr. Stallings was appointed to the TAMU Board of Regents in 2005 and also serves on multiple boards throughout Texas. Coach Stallings, of Paris, Texas, is known for his inspirational speeches, reinforcing family values and strength of character. Registration begins at 8:00 A.M.

Jan 25, 2008 Faford Industries Open House - Marshall, TX

Faford Industries, a major manufacturer of potting mix and soil additives, will be hosting an open house on January 25, 2008 in Marshall, Texas. The event starts at 9:00 am with a plant tour, a Texas style BBQ at Noon and special guest horticultural speakers after lunch. The open house is free, but you will need to RSVP by calling Jan Hanning at 1-800-722-7645 by the deadline of January 14th!
The open house will be held at the Faford Production Facility in Marshall, at 1010 Commerce Street, Marshall, Texas. This is located in the Marshall Industrial Park, north of Marshall, off the loop.

Brazoria County Master Gardeners are hosting an open house from 9 a.m. until noon at the Master Gardener Education Station at Hospital Drive and County Road 171 in Angleton. The event features an educational program on selecting and growing fruiting plants in Brazoria County. Hosted by Grimes County Master Gardeners and Grimes County Extension Office. The Grimes County Master Gardeners are preparing to hold their 2008 class starting Tuesday, January 29 and finishing on Tuesday, April 22. Classes meet from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Go Texan Building at the Grimes County Fairground outside Navasota. Cost is $150 and applications will be available at the Extension Office, Martha's Bloomers and Coufal Prater.
